I’ve been looking for a way to get a good workout at home recently, and the P90X Extreme Home Fitness Workout Program was exactly what I was looking for.  When I started the program I wasn’t in bad shape, but over the past few weeks I’ve noticed a big improvement in my body.  The program comes with 12 highly diverse and intense DVD workouts that really make you work.  Each workout focuses on a different area.  All the major parts of the body get their own workout, plus you spend time doing yoga, plyometrics, and kickboxing.  Each workout takes advantage of the muscle confusion technique, a type of exercise that keeps your muscles guessing to prevent plateaus.  The workouts are led by Tony Horton.  He instructs very well, keeping it positive and motivating without getting annoying. In order to make sure things don’t get boring, you have the ability to mix and match routines.  You can go for a couple weeks without doing the same routine twice, which is hard to find in an exercise DVD.

Jillian Michaels: Shred-It With Weights Review

When it’s cold outside I love having the option to work out in my home.  Exercise DVDs like Jillian Michaels: Shred-It With Weights gives me just what I’m looking for – a challenging workout I can do without starting up my car.  This DVD includes two thirty minute workouts designed to be done with a free weight or kettle bell.  The extra weight adds some intensity to the already challenging workouts.  I’m in pretty good shape but I found myself working up a sweat after one of these routines.  These boot camp routines are designed to be done in a graduated fashion: once you’ve done workout one for a while and you’re feeling stronger you work your way up to workout two.   This gives you the opportunity to get stronger without becoming frustrated with exercises that are too difficult for you.

P90x is not bodybuilding. Its overall fitness. You won’t get huge, you’ll get strong and have good muscle endurance which helps out in the real world.

Pure bodybuilding involves many fewer exercises, fewer reps, much heavier weight, and would be quite difficult to pull off with the P90x limited equipment requirements. Plus you need a special diet to really get the gains.
