Envy Girls Workout DVD Review

by Natalie Belford

So I was in a video store and I bought the Envy Girls dvd because of the cover. Yup. I know, it’s kkinda superficial but I wasn’t able to read reviews of it online and decided to just take a gamble. I love the way the girls looked in this workout video. They’re really gorgeous women and they have exactly the kind of bodies I want. Not lean and muscular but toned, smooth and tight. Actually that’s because the women in the videos are models and not actual fitness experts but I digress…

Because the cover looked like that, I half expected this workout dvd to be really bad, you know… like a cheesy MTV-style workout or something but it was actually pretty good because there were some interesting new routines in them. I learned some cool new moves for tightening the bum and you can never really get enough new butt exercises can you?

This particular DVD set features 4 workouts entitled ABS OF ENVY, BUNS OF ENVY, LEGS OF ENVY and ARMS OF ENVY. Each of the workout is lead by a different girl and at the end of each dvd is a demonstration of form by celebrity trainer Michael Carson, who designed the whole workout. Each of the main workouts are 20 minutes long and there’s a 5 minutes quick workout if you’re short of time. This is a very time-efficient workout since you can work your abs in 20 minutes and then maybe do 20 minutes of legs if you have the time. It’s really very useful when I have to work late or early and really don’t have time to do hour long workouts or yoga sessions.

But I have admit, the only two workouts I like were the buns and legs workout. The Abs workout wasn’t that effective for me, maybe I’m just far too used to crunches and other harder core work but this one didn’t give me anything except a pretty good stretch and tone. The buns of envy workout was pretty good because of the helicopter squat, which is a cool, bouncy move where you pivot on one leg and squeeze your butt. It also featured some floor work which balanced out all the standing squat/lunge work so your buns do get a great burn.

I would say the Envy Girls workouts aren’t hard at all and they’re appropriate for beginners. Will I do this regularly? Probably not, maybe once in a while because I just have far too many exercise dvds. But if you’re looking to only target a specific body part, this particular dvd set might help. This could be done in rotation with the Lotte Berk Workout Set, which also features short 20+ minute long workouts for specific body parts like abs and butt. I actually did that for a week or two and felt great!
