Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 Review – Awesome Workout!

by Natalie Belford

The Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 workout DVD is one of the most intense workout DVDs I have ever seen. Jillian Michaels for those who are unaware is one of the trainers for the show The Biggest Loser. One reason why I think she has so many workout DVDs on the market is because of how effective she is. I know that when purchasing her workout DVD that I will get an intense workout that will help get me into the best shape of my life.

The Ripped in 30 DVD workout claims to be able to define the muscles in 30 days. Although I am not what anybody would call ripped I definitely can see the shape of various muscles that I have never had defined before. In order to get the most out of this 4-week long intense program users need to follow Jillian Michaels 30-day meal plan that is free to download when the DVD is purchased.

The workout DVD comes with 4 weeks of workouts that use the 3-2-1 system enabling me to get the most out of the workouts. Even better is that I can do everything at my own pace, no more having to advance to the next level without mastering the one before.

What I Really Liked:

  • Intense Workout – One thing that I really like about this video is how intense the workouts are. Many workout DVDs claim they offer intense workouts, but once I actually do them I don’t find my heart beating any faster or me sweating any more than normal. With Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30, I find the workouts to be very intense, my heart rate is elevated throughout the entire workout, and once I am done, I am sweating.

  • Longer Workouts – A nice surprise for me was the workouts being longer than the 24 minutes the DVD claims. While the main part of the workout is 24 minutes, which is where your heart rate is pumped up and you start sweating, the total workout is more like 35 minutes. The total workout includes the warm up and cool down exercises, so it is nice to know I am getting a full workout each day.

  • Increases In Intensity – The first week of workouts are not that intense, I for one found them to be rather easy. However, after the first week the workouts really start to build in intensity. Even better is the fact that you can go at your own pace. For example, if you have not mastered Week 2 you can continue with these workouts until you are ready to move onto Week 3, if you master them early you can move onto the next set.

  • 3-2-1 Format – The 3-2-1 format is great because it gives me the best workout possible each time I turn on the DVD, and it allows me to focus on each part of my body separately. The format includes three minutes of strength exercises, two minutes of cardio, and one minute of abs for each workout.

What I Didn’t Like:

  • Hurts Lower Back – For consumers who have lower back issues this workout DVD is not going to be number one on the list. However, even though I have lower back issues I have found that I am still able to do this intense workout. I just have to modify what I am doing to help ease some of the strain. To modify the workout I simply watch the week I am currently on and make any modifications needed to reduce the pressure on my lower back.

  • Too Much Talking – One thing that I find rather irritating is how much talking Jillian Michaels does in this workout DVD. I am a huge fan of her, I currently own several of her other workout DVDs, but this one drives me crazy. Not really a big deal since I can turn the volume down low enough to workout but not get irritated.

The Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 workout DVD is the perfect choice for both physically fit and unfit people. Included within the DVD is four weeks’ worth of workouts, each workout lasting about 24 minutes. Consumers who purchase this DVD can also download a 30-day meal plan that can be followed in order to achieve the best possible results. Perhaps the best part of this intense DVD workout is Jillian Michaels herself, if she cannot keep you motivated nobody can!
